Busy with pups

It’s been too long since we’ve updated. Mike has been busy working with some pups and is excited to see them starting to tree at four and a half months. It’s finally cooled off where he can get in the woods, but the ticks are about to eat him alive. We’ll try to post some new pics soon.

Noon walk

Nothing was stirring much this day around noon, but we went for a walk with the dogs anyway.

Mike and his pack

Mike is still working with the yellow pup out of Freckles (Saline River Little Man x Lee’s Ferry C.J.) and George (Knotty Willowoak Willie x Knotty Shingleoak Sadie). He is a promising year-old pup.

Yeller Bob - 1 yr. old pup

We recently went to see Steve Combs and got two more pups out of Willie and Sadie. Wilie is out of our Ringo (Sam x Penny) and Ladie Blue. Sadie is also a Buffalo River Sam x Penny cross. Mike has been having fun with these two — Tiger and Bluebell – born last July.

Mike took the pups out for a walk today and saw a few squirrels.

The female saw a squirrel timber and bellied-up on the tree.

Mike got some video of the pups treed but I can’t post the video here. It’s on the Brushy Creek Collars Facebook page, though. This is a still image from the video showing the two male pups.

Lazy Tuesday

Mike was not at home today so the pups were being lazy when I went out to get some updated photos.

Pup projects

: Pups

Mike has four pups he’s been working with for the past few months. The dark pups — one male and one female – are out of our Missy (Ringo x Freckles) and Nickelson’s Tank (Nickelson’s Bear x Nickelson’s Susie). They were born Feb. 5 this year. There is one that’s not pictured, a great-looking brindle male.

The yellow pup is a male out of Freckles and Cole’s George (Knotty Willowoak Willie x Knotty Shingleoak Sadie). He was born Feb. 7.

At the age they are pictured (in April), you can see how the two are really using their noses. The reason I don’t have a photo of the brindle is he was never still! Now in July they are really beginning to show interest in squirrels.

It’s time to get some new pictures and we’ll try to post some soon.
